Volunteer Role Description
Title of Position: Driver Support Volunteer
Location/Program: TBD
Description of Assignment: Ensuring that the most vulnerable of London’s families and individuals are supported by assisting the Community and Family Services Driver with the shipping and receiving of goods and donations.
Specific Duties:
- Assisting the London Community & Family Services Driver with:
- Completing scheduled deliveries and pick-ups daily
- Transporting food and other donated items to proper storage areas
- Hand-bombing and hand jack operation to move product
- Organization of warehouse inventory
- Transporting food from various locations to satellite food banks.
- Lifting boxes and building skids
- Wrapping skids for delivery and proper storage
- Various related tasks requested by the C&FS Driver
Qualifications: Must be at least 18 years of age. Police Records Check. Must be willing and able to lift boxes weighing at least 30lbs. Punctuality, initiative, compassion, cooperativeness, professionalism and the ability to work well with others is imperative. Confidentiality expected.
Schedule: Minimum 4 hours weekly (8-12 OR 12-4), may be called-in as needed (need for additional volunteer hours may change seasonally)
Length of Commitment Necessary: Six Months
Staff Supervisor: Community Outreach Manager
