Volunteer Job Description

 

Title of Position: Food Bank Reception/Greeter

Location/Program: Basic Needs Program – Satellite Locations

Description of Assignment: First impressions are important and greeters provide that welcoming first impression for community members. On top of that friendly greeting, greeters will also be responsible for checking off appointments, slotting people in to open appointments, answering basic questions and directing people to the appropriate staff or program.

Specific Duties:

  • Greeting community members as they arrive
  • Checking the appointment list and making confirmation of appointments
  • Directing community members to the staff or services they require
  • Various related tasks as requested by Staff Supervisor
  • Sharing information about programs/services offered by LCFS and the assigned church

Qualifications: Must be at least 18 years of age and provide The Salvation Army with a police record check. Punctuality, attention to detail and adherence to safety guidelines are imperative. Dress code and other professional standards must be adhered to. Confidentiality and co-operation is expected. Previous experience working with marginalized individuals, those with mental health and addiction issues is an asset. A member of the church congregation would be an asset.

SCHEDULE:

Three to Four hours, one day per week 9-1

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday (day dependent on satellite location)

Shift could be split in to two x two hour shifts

LENGTH OF COMMITMENT NECESSARY:  Minimum of 6 months

STARTING DATE: Immediately

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

A member of the church congregation would be an asset to welcome the guest to the church and share the programming offered.  Westminster Park Community Church, London Citadel & Hillcrest Community Church.
